In 1937 Sergio Allegretti began a coal and ice company, eventually evolved into Bayside Fuel Oil Corporation, a distributor of heating oil. In 1965, the family incorporated Bayside Fuel Oil Depot Corporation as a wholesale terminal operator and purchased its first terminal on the Gowanus Canal at Sackett Street. To date, Bayside Fuel Oil is family owned and operated — Brooklyn, NY.
When Bayside Fuel Oil first opened for business in 1937, the front of the building was flanked by large neon lights bearing its company name. These letters were purchased from an Antique Shop on Atlantic Avenue and proudly spelled our motto “YES” to anything our guest requires.
Great motto to follow — recycled for the interior signage — nu hotel, 85 Smith Street, Brooklyn, NY.
