Three days of inspiration — local, national and worldwide. A Better World by Design — all involved speakers, panelists, attendees and students looking to change the world for the better. Small and large — expertise and information that makes sense.
Toughest part during the weekend — picking panels and workshop that would make a difference on an individual basis. My favorite — Urban Arts and Activism. The panelist are worth following now and in the future — join in on the shift, they did.
The panel on Urban Arts and Activism focused on issues surrounding the unique challenges that artists and designers face working in urban environments. Because of increased funding cuts for art education in schools, many young people grow up without an effective outlet for their creativity. In such an environment, how can artists who focus on issues pertinent to urban communities provide a much needed service that has the potential to help rebuild often frayed neighborhoods?
