In 1982, I got myself a pair of Ray-Ban® Wayfarers. I thought I was a bad-ass hotshot. Later, I branched out to more unique vintage eyewear and have never looked back. Until recently, that is. It seems that everyone and their hipster bro is wearing this frame again, in its many iterations.
So when I came across this photocopy of a photo booth self-portrait I took back then, I also looked up the Wayfarer® specs. I guess everyone wants to feel like a celebrity once in awhile. If putting on a pair of sunglasses can do it, you avoid all that work it takes to do it the old-fashioned way.
RB2140 | Original Wayfarer
This is simply the most recognizable style in sunwear. The distinct shape is paired with the traditional Ray-Ban® signature logo on the sculpted temples. After its initial design in 1952, the Wayfarer® quickly endeared itself to Hollywood filmmakers, celebrities, musicians and artists, solidifying its iconic status for years to come. The Wayfarer® is available in a contemporary color palette allowing the wearer to express their own style and personality through this unmistakable look. History, along with fresh colorful updates have made the Wayfarer® a symbol of youth, fashion and creativity for over 50 years. Available with polar lens options. The latest addition to the Wayfarer® is the new introduction of the limited edition Rare Prints. There are two unique prints: one urban inspired and the other is all about feminine charm. The highly anticipated New York City Subway map Rare Print is the perfect example of hip, urban, street design. Flirty and whimsical describe the Flowers Rare Print. Flowers is a playful approach that softens this style. The Wayfarer Rare Prints is a must have for any collector or enthusiast.
