Running Away to the Creative Circus | Design + Advertising Under the Big Top

by kHyal on January 30, 2010

CreativeCircus-1CreativeCircus-2Karl serendipitously met DC Washington, Placement Director at the Creative Circus, when reviewing student design portfolios at the ADC in New York in 2009. Their meeting led to an invitation for us to present our Career and Social Media Boot Camp to Circus students in Atlanta as part of the Forum Series.

Creative Circus is a portfolio-building school specializing in advertising art direction, advertising copywriting, commercial photography and design. They’ve also recently added an Interactive Development program.

Yesterday we spent the day reviewing student portfolios — then presenting strategies for career success including how to leverage social media — to a packed house of attentive design students.

Later, we were guests on Don’t Get Me Started — a podcast about advertising produced by Dan Balser — Advertising Department Head.

We were duly impressed with the quality of the student work and the dedication and talent of the department heads and staff, and equally wowed by the graciousness of our hosts and the charming, joyous personalities of each student we had the honor of meeting.

We would recommend this school to any motivated, ambitious design or advertising student who wants the opportunity to produce a killer portfolio and learn the ropes from pros who will the instill real-world industry demands with passion and dedication. Their track record for placing grads in prime positions for career success speaks for itself.

Special thanks to DC Washington for her tireless efforts in facilitating our visit. Thanks also to Dan Balser, Berwyn Hung and Ron Moore for their thoughtful time and attention.

Thank you so much for attending. It was easy to be a gracious host to such lovely guests. You were so generous with your time, and the expertise you brought was greatly appreciated by the students. The grads you interviewed really loved the feedback you gave them and look forward to working with you all in the future. Thank you again, for taking time out of your schedules to give back to education.
