Locking Shocking | Spanish Fashion — Fine Art Roots

by kHyal on January 28, 2010

Ana Gonzalez founded Locking Shocking (a mix of a dada concept and a word game) in 1996 — then partnered with Óscar Benito in 1997 — which lasted for ten years. Ana’s vision has a strong tie to many artistic disciplines. Her studies at the Fine Arts Faculty of Madrid, included installations, video art and photography.

Ana has evolved towards what she considers to be “the Matrix” of any sensitivity related to creation. Her interrelation within different art disciplines defined her work as the creative director of Locking Shocking and continues in her new firm Ana Locking. Her debut collection “REENTRY” Winter 08-09 received the L´Oréal Paris award for best collection at Pasarela Cibeles of Madrid. She presented her  Spring-Summer 2010 collection at NY Fashion Week in September of 2009, then in November, received the Cosmopolitan award for Best National Designer of the Year.

I love the bold, edgy style and fine art merge of Locking Shocking and Ana Locking. Both websites are chock full of the unexpected and I suggest a fully immersed and extended browse for the full effect.
