I have been fascinated with the self-portrait since I was a teenager — starting with photo booths — moving onto copying my face on a Xerox machine. And, then getting my first camera and turning it around to capture what I thought was me — or pointing at things I thought looked like me — to help understand who I really was inside. Or, sometimes I make paintings, drawings or sculpture to represent my form in the way it’s felt on the interior. There are extensive examples on my flickr, tumblr and kHyal website — but, for this exercise quickly grabbed a dozen images off of my hard drive. A tiny snap shot from three decades of exploration.
What do you look like?

I like this concept very much. When I was in art school or stumped on “what to create,” I would start with a self-portrait (drawing), just to get the hand moving and the brain cells to start the engine, so to speak. Haven’t done this in a long time, I will do this little exercise and see what I come up with!
