Dream Big, Start Small | Design Army

by Karl on February 15, 2011

Tonight, kHyal and I enjoyed a killer salon hosted by the tdc. Introductions by tdc President Diego Vainesman — on time to a packed house — Pum Lefebure the co-founder and creative director of Design Army, delivered a storybook presentation. Simple ideas from a design firm with a message to strive for excellence. Having direction with conviction delivering smart solutions with results is a winning combination.

What really goes on at a design firm? Get the no-nonsense, bare-bones, straight-up story from Design Army co-founder Pum Lefebure. She tells it like it is — and it’s all about getting the job, getting to work and getting to the point. She’s not interested in just showing you a bunch of pretty pictures.

See projects from inception to production. See the stuff that didn’t make the cut. And find out how a small army of creatives consistently drums out concept after jaw-dropping concept. It’s not always pretty. It’s not always sexy. But it’s a revealing, enlightening and inspirational look at the sometimes nasty business of award-winning design.

Pum Lefebure is a co-founder and creative director of Design Army, based in Washington, D.C. As a native of Bangkok, she brings a global sensibility to American design — a creative point of view that draws from different cultures and resonates with diverse audiences. She has led the development of award-winning work for clients like The Washington Ballet, Chronicle Books, Ritz Carlton, GE, Signature Theatre, and Disney, to name a few. Her work has earned a plethora of awards, including AIGA365, Communication Arts, D&AD, Graphis, Print, I.D. Annual Design Review, TDC, SPD, The Art Directors Club and the One Show Gold Pencil. Pum was named by Graphic Design USA as one of the top 50 People to Watch, and was awarded as a Rising Star by the Washington Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business.
