It’s always a joy to see the work of artist Denyse Schmidt. We also feel lucky to have her as a friend and neighbor — and now luckier still that we can see her solo exhibition so close to home at the University of Bridgeport. Mark your calendars for October 21st!
Denyse is exhibiting her work in a solo show at the University of Bridgeport’s Arnold Bernhard Center Gallery, opening October 21, 2010. The exhibition, entitled Any Way You Slice It: Quilts and Other Works by Denyse Schmidt, showcases recent quilts as well as earlier examples to provide a sense of continuity and context for the current work. Also on view are Denyse’s fabric collections, as well as the reference images, sketches, and found materials that inform her process and designs. The University of Bridgeport is located on Long Island Sound, near the Olmstead-designed Seaside Park.
The exhibition is on view from October 21 to December 3 at the Arnold Bernhard Center Gallery, University of Bridgeport, 84 Iranistan Avenue, Bridgeport CT. Gallery hours are 9:30 to 5 Monday – Thursday, 10:30 to 5 Friday, and 12:30 to 4 Saturday.
Denyse’s quilts, stationery, books, and other items are available for purchase at a one-day holiday boutique on December 1, from 2 to 6pm in the gallery.
