The Antiques Garage — located at 112 W 25th Street (between Sixth and Seventh Avenues) — was featured in our March 12th post by kHyal™.
Mike Reffie, Jr., an anchor at the Antiques Garage for over 30 years had the most eclectic array of antiques and cool-ecticibles. My favorites were the brands from the past — some still around — others missing in action.
It was cool to see original packaging with products still preserved in great condition after 60 years. The lets see what we can get away with claims to sell products left the shelf long ago as truth-in-advertising came into vogue. I did get a chuckle out of the “Saraka” brand claim, “The Laxative that fill the gap in your daily diet.” I didn’t realize that was part of the diet plan!
