A Groundhog Day Post About Textile Design

by kHyal on February 2, 2011

The news of Punxsutawney Phil not seeing his shadow this morning — brought me great hope for an early Spring — and a longing to feel it even sooner. Then I came across these gorgeous textile designs by Josef Frank of Svenskt Tenn that were designed in the 1940s but only recently produced on the David Report. To me, they encapsulate the timeless and explosive beauty of my memories of Spring in New England. The moments when flora and fauna seem to burst into amplification and I catch myself thinking that I can barely believe that such beauty is real, taking our bleak winter landscape into an infinite realm of color, texture, fragrance, warmth — life.

You can explore more of Frank’s work here, in the form of accessories and upholstery, objects to fill your life with the grand intensity of Spring all year long.
